What Remains

Unique Microwaved Polaroids, 2019

This series centres around the theme ‘re-heat’. I choose photos relating to important social or political events, censored music videos and movie film stills due to political reasons in Mainland China as the material for this project.

I use Polaroid to copy the mentioned images and microwave them as they develop. High heat considerably shortens the development process. The chemical emulsion is also damaged due to the vibration of water molecules. This process results in abstract images.
