If You Were Here

2022

Due to travel restrictions during the pandemic, the artist imagines the possibilities of seeing the world through virtual reality. Satellite images from Google Maps and elevation maps are used to render 3D models. Based upon Hong Kong, the artist renders surreal and uncanny images in this virtual space.

These images show the artist's powerlessness in today's society. Through this project, he reflects the influence of technology on our lives. With the rising popularity of virtual reality, will this improve the way of living? Or will this trap you in a world of monitors and make you forget that you are here?
