Unfold
Folded photographs, 2019
Origami always fascinates me. Through a simple geometric paper craft, we can perceive a more defined and substantial subject. Sometimes, paradoxically, we have a more vague sensation and imagination. By unfolding the Origami, returning to its basic form, I try to deconstruct this paper craft.
I folded prints into different Origami. Creases run across the image, making an interesting conversation. After unfolding the print, I found that creases are permanent on the image, leaving a scar on the image. After scanning the print, the image appears to be backwards, just like making a contact print. I question if we can still imagine the subjects they once represent by looking at these abstract images or by unfolding the phenomena, it can transcend to a higher level?
